I haven't blogged about our dog lately, but I figured now would be a good time to remind you all. He's a Catahoula Leopard Dog (which is the state dog of Louisiana). They are an incredibly high energy breed, and extremely intelligent. Frankly, he's too smart for his own good, but Ally and I love him to death. Here is one of his latest pictures (and you can see the rest on Flickr of course).
Logan also has his very own Twitter account. And thanks to Twitter, our friend Sarandipity let us know that the Ozaukee Humane Society has not one, but two, female Catahoula Leopard Dog puppies available! Their names are Wendy and Waxy, and their pictures are below. I will let you stare at them and say "Awwwww... how cute" for a minute:
Ally and I are really big fans of this breed. As I said before, they are very high energy, and incredibly intelligent. Logan is also very eager to please. You have to be a strong alpha leader in the pack though to take charge. If we had a bigger place than we do now, we might consider adopting one of them. If you're looking for a great dog, head on up to Ozaukee County and take a look! You won't be sorry.
Edited to Add: One complaint about the Ozaukee Humane Society website is that they categorize the Catahoula Leopard Dog as a "Scent Hound" when you click on the breed name to find out more information about the breed. Catahoula's really aren't scent dogs, and so they really understate their exercise requirements on the website. They are far more similar to Australian Cattle Dogs and Australian Shepherds in temperment and energy levels.
Those of you who don't follow me on Twitter or Facebook might not know that Ally and I have a new addition to the family... an Australian Shepherd mix named Logan:
He was surrendered to the Elmbrook Humane Society, and we were lucky to snap him up so quickly. He's a fantastic dog! Of course, we took him off the to vet to make sure he was in good shape, and not surprisingly... they wanted a stool sample. So on our walk today, he did his business, and we walked by the veterinary office on the way home to drop it off. All of this of course is a lead up to this Scrubs episode I was reminded of:
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
