So the latest faux controversy seems to be this comment by Obama where he uses the phrase "Lipstick on a Pig" regarding the policies of Palin/McCain:
First of all, it seems fairly clear to me that he's talking about their policies, and not Palin personally. And you know what, that is a very common phrase. In my engineering career, I've used it more than once. But I suppose in politics it's just stupid to use that phrase when the opponent involved is a woman. I mean, John McCain would never do that. Oh... nevermind:
You know, and neither would any other politician I'm sure. And for the record, I don't believe John McCain was trying to imply that Hillary Clinton was a pig either. So can we please, try to quickly drop this faux controversy and actually start talking about issues, policies, and you know... things that matter? Is this going to be what both sides do until November? Just a series of ad hominem attacks and nothing of substance? Because if so, this is going to be a long two months.
Cue Republicans telling me how I'm wrong and "just don't get it" in 3... 2... 1...
