Politician, Cobbler or Messiah?

Michelle Obama has been saying a lot of things like this lately:

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another -- that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

Fix our souls?  Is he planning on nationalizing the cobblers union?  Plenty of people (including me) went after Huckabee for his religious overtones during his campaign.  At least Huckabee never claimed to be capable of doing what only Messiah is capable of, and that's redemption of your soul.  Does Obama really think he's the black Jesus?  And exactly where in the Constitution does it list redemption as a job for the President?  Last time I checked, the 1st Amendment specifically prohibited that type of activity by the government.

I truly believe that Michelle Obama is right.
But...

1. This is not the role of government
2. you can't fix someone's soul if they don't WANT their soul to be fixed

Just like, you cannot change an alcoholic if he doesn't think he's an alcoholic.
Step 1 is knowing you have a problem.

Though I agree with Michelle Obama, I disagree with her methods.
You cannot spiritual change through government, nor is that even their role.

wasn't the first jesus black? at least according to spike lee.

I think barak is taking advantage of millions of black christians by promising the 'promised land'. its disgusting. he's offeeing something he isn't able to give. obviously his wife is now making the same claims. and that deception could conceivably get him in the white house.
