I really don't. I've worked in technical support and engineering for too long. You quickly learn that when something unexpected happens, that there is a reason. Nothing happens "just because". With that said, I also don't believe in conspiracies. I know, I know... it makes it hard for me to be a Ron Paul supporter if I say that (and if I didn't make that joke, then somebody would have). However, when you look at what's happening in the Middle East right now, I think its pretty hard to suggest that something big isn't happening. There is now word that a 5th undersea cable has been cut and/or damaged in some way in a week. I've been keeping my eye on this ever since I heard that a 3rd had been cut last week, and that as a result, all Internet access for Iran was down. It still is.
There are a lot of conflicting reports as to the cause of each cable's outage. Some are reporting that dragging anchors took a couple out (*cough* Navy ships), while others are saying those reports are erroneous. While it's impossible at this point to say whether this is all intentional, the outcomes and timing definitely make it likely. Folks, this is what information warfare looks like. Is this retaliation for sending boats to close to Navy destroyers? Is this a friendly reminder to Tehran that there are other ways to damage besides bombs? Is this simply a prelude to something more significant? Is this all just a big coincidence? Keep an eye out folks.
