This CNN article entitled, "Gender or race: Black women voters face tough choices in S.C.", only scratches the surface of the difficult choices being faced by Democrats in that state:
Analysts say black women this year never have been more engaged in a political campaign or held such power in determining the Democratic nominee.Recent polls show black women are expected to make up more than a third of all Democratic voters in South Carolina's primary in five days. For these women, a unique, and most unexpected dilemma, presents itself: Should they vote their race, or should they vote their gender?
VodkaPundit had this to say:
That's right, black women can vote only on one of two issues - that they have vaginas, or that said vaginas contain above-average amounts of melanin. Imagine if the Republicans were putting up a paraplegic and a Jew (hey, it could happen!). And then CNN did a story focusing on wheelchair-bound rabbis who had to choose between their legs and their circumcisions.
What about the white men?! They're faced with just as difficult of a choice... do they vote to keep the black man down as they always have done and vote for Hillary, or keep the Oval Office the old boy's club and vote for Obama? Decisions, decisions. Of course, taken to it's absurd extreme, this makes John Edwards look even sadder. If black women can only vote for Hillary or Obama because of their gender or race, what does that say about Edward's relatively poor performance given that he's white and male?
