One of the political exercises I go through is deciding what I would do depending on who wins the primary for the various parties. There are a lot of factors and combinations involved, most of which involve me voting for Ron Paul as a Libertarian (if he doesn't get the Republican nod and does run on the Libertarian ticket), or writing in a vote. The only other candidate who I've considered actually voting affirmatively for is Fred Thompson. Well... that is until now:
Among the 2008 presidential field, all but two of the Republican candidates -- Sen. John McCain and Fred Thompson -- have made a written commitment to the American people promising to oppose and veto income tax increases.
Of all the people who did sign it, the only one I actually believe is Ron Paul because he has a proven track record in Congress of following through on those pledges. Hell, he has actually introduced a bill to repeal the 16th Amendment. Look Fred, if you can't at least give lip service to holding down taxes, then what good are you?
