Did you know that Wed. November 21st was Fred Giving Day? Neither did I. Apparently nobody else did either, because I only heard about it by reading John Washburn's blog (and he's voting for Ron Paul like me). The Fred Thompson campaign is currently being very secretive about how much money came in during his big day... which can only mean that it wasn't much. You better believe that if it were anywhere near as close as to what Ron Paul brought in (which was publicly announced even during his mass donation day when the results were far from sure), that they'd be screaming it from the mountain tops. That can't be good news for his campaign... especially since I read many blogs who are supporting Fred Thompson, and even they weren't advertising his donation day. If you can't even get your own supporters to shill for you... how can you win?
Ron Paul on the other hand is gaining momentum, and there is not just one, but two more mass donation days planned before the end of the 4th quarter. The first is set for November 30th, and is aimed squarely as an attack on Rudy. The second, and probably more symbolic, is on December 16th, which is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. Tea Party '07 already has pledges lined up which would equal almost $2 million, with a goal set for $10 million.
Please consider pledging for either one (or both) of these days. I read so many people who talk about the need for smaller government, more personal responsibility, and a need to not sacrifice our individual liberty... and then support the same old big government Republicans who don't believe in any of those things. It's time to quit sacrificing your beliefs, simply out of fear of the other party. It's time to have a real debate about the purpose of government in our lives. And if you say not now... then when? When will you do anything to tell the power brokers in the Republican Party that they've lost your vote? Because that is the only way that things will change.
It's time for a real change. It's time for Ron Paul.
