What If You Had Your Own Day and Nobody Came?

Did you know that Wed. November 21st was Fred Giving Day?  Neither did I.  Apparently nobody else did either, because I only heard about it by reading John Washburn's blog (and he's voting for Ron Paul like me).  The Fred Thompson campaign is currently being very secretive about how much money came in during his big day... which can only mean that it wasn't much.  You better believe that if it were anywhere near as close as to what Ron Paul brought in (which was publicly announced even during his mass donation day when the results were far from sure), that they'd be screaming it from the mountain tops.  That can't be good news for his campaign... especially since I read many blogs who are supporting Fred Thompson, and even they weren't advertising his donation day.  If you can't even get your own supporters to shill for you... how can you win?

Ron Paul on the other hand is gaining momentum, and there is not just one, but two more mass donation days planned before the end of the 4th quarter.  The first is set for November 30th, and is aimed squarely as an attack on Rudy.  The second, and probably more symbolic, is on December 16th, which is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.  Tea Party '07 already has pledges lined up which would equal almost $2 million, with a goal set for $10 million.

Please consider pledging for either one (or both) of these days.  I read so many people who talk about the need for smaller government, more personal responsibility, and a need to not sacrifice our individual liberty... and then support the same old big government Republicans who don't believe in any of those things.  It's time to quit sacrificing your beliefs, simply out of fear of the other party.  It's time to have a real debate about the purpose of government in our lives.  And if you say not now... then when?  When will you do anything to tell the power brokers in the Republican Party that they've lost your vote?  Because that is the only way that things will change.

It's time for a real change.  It's time for Ron Paul.

The campaign is not being secretive, they were not involved. This effort was mounted by bloggers and volunteers not assovciated with the campaign.

The same is true of the Ron Paul efforts. What's funny is that Fred Thompson's entire campaign started with blogging, and non-standard campaign efforts through YouTube, etc. Now, where Ron Paul embraces these efforts and works with them, Fred Thompson eschews them? Seems odd to me.

This "Fred's Giving Day" was conducted by Redstate bloggers :)

Nick, I don't know how much Fred Raised. My guess is not much. He had only 89 pledges the day before the giving day. Generally, it can be hard to tell as people come on who haven't pledged.
On Ron Paul's big November 5th day, he raised $238.89 per person pledging. If Thompson raised at that rate, his "big day" would have been a pitiful $21,261.11. Mike Huckabee had a giving day recently where a lot of people showed up without first pledging. He had 209 pledgers and got $225,000, which is high given the low number of pledges, a total of $1076.56. If Fred Raised on that scale, he would have raised $95,813.40. So, somewhere between $21-$95k might be a reasonable estimate, but it's not anything I'd be bragging about.

Blogs for Fred? That's the only blog you could come up with? Apparently you didn't do your homework. I would hardly call another Ron Paul supporter a credible source on all things Fred Thompson. You mislead your readership because the last post on Blogs for Fred was September 27th - its not been active for awhile. The majority of Thompson supporters know that.

It was advertised/mentioned on several blogs... Here is a list of blogs that I personally knew of.

Blogs for Fred Thompson (which created the website)
Fred on Campus
Flopping Aces
Ohio 4 Fred
Federation of Conservative Republicans
Wake Up America
Falcons for Fred
Straight Talk
Vets for Fred
Society for Independent Thinking
Indiana Fred Heads

You claim to support the truth and change, but your lack of research, and sources for this particular post makes you and your candidate look foolish.

Fred Thompson is running for office? What position? Jeez something like this you'd think would be mentioned on the news or something. Fred is a great lobbyist,a good actor a mediocre lawyer and a pitiful politician.
I can't imagine Fred playing the President in a movie, let alone actually being in the oval office.

Somehow when I think of someone running this nation, Fred Thompson's name never ever pops into my head.
I think he is raising money commiserate with his talents and abilities, and I hope it stays that way.
