I've mentioned these stupid policies before... but here is a story of an 8th grader getting detention for hugging:
Megan Coulter, an eighth-grader in Mascoutah, Ill., finished a second after-school detention today. That was her punishment for hugging friends Friday, which her school forbids....According to school policy, "Displays of affection should not occur on the school campus at any time. It is in poor taste, reflects poor judgment, and brings discredit to the school and to the persons involved."
Poor taste to hug? Is that the society we want to live in? Of course, if she'd like to get birth control pills so she can have sex with her friends, that's perfectly acceptable.
