My journey began yesterday morning when I ran in the Colorama 5K Run at Lapham Peak. For those of you who have never been there, it's a gorgeous state park, with wonderful hiking, biking, and cross country skiing trails. The Colorama is a high impact run with challenging uphill climbs and steep down hills. Frankly, I was probably a bit to cavalier in the first mile, and paid for it in the last mile. That, combined with the heat, and the poor placement of water stations, gave me some pretty wicked side stitches by the end. I finished with a final time of 25:51. Not spectacular, but not awful either.
Of course, it was today when I realized exactly what happened to me. I decided to take my camera out for a long walk along Menomonee River to find some fall colors. About half way through I realized how sore my ankle was. I think during one of those down hill runs I re-aggravated my ankle sprain, and it's been very sore and hard to walk on tonight. Luckily for me, yesterday's run was the last race I was planning on doing this year. Hopefully the pictures were worth it though, and I'll have plenty of time to rest it now. Here is a small sampling. As always, you can click on any picture for a larger version.
