Disclaimer The opinions expressed herein are my own personal opinions and do not represent my employer's view in anyway.
Pretty much my entire family is very politically aware, and has very strong feelings on almost everything. This makes coming out here rather interesting because my core beliefs are generally very different from theirs, and they need to talk about this, so that my ways can be corrected before it's too late. So a couple nights ago, I ended up discussing politics with my brother-in-law Shannon until 2:30 AM. For those keeping track, my body, which hasn't fully adjusted to the time difference, was under the impression it was about 3:30 AM. Normally I'd say that discussing politics with someone in that condition is like trying to have a bar fight with someone who is falling down drunk, but somehow I managed to keep it together... mostly.
The next morning, I was afraid the conversation was going to continue when the following conversation occurred instead:
Shannon: You know Nick, I was thinking about it last night, and I don't think you're a libertarian.Me: Uhhh, yes I am.Shannon: Actually no you're not. You're an anarchist.Me: Well then I hate to break it to you Shannon, but you're not a Republican. You're a progressive authoritarian.Shannon: Ummm, no I'm not.
Actually the funniest part of the whole night was when he kept calling himself a Republican. That cracks me up every time he says it. Well, he might be Republican for California.
