May I Ask You a Question?

I'm sorry sir, but you're not allowed to ask me questions.  That's now illegal:

Florida elections officials will begin enforcing a law which changes the state's "rules of political engagement": campaigns can't ask voters about the issues.

For example, political committees that push or want to defeat ballot initiatives, such as changing Florida's property tax structure, can't survey voters to find out how they feel about the issue.

What a brilliant law!  This will finally put an end to that pesky habit of some people trying to find out how the voters feel about issues, so that our democracy actually represented the will of the voters.  Thank God one state finally had the good sense to end that dangerous and outdated practice.  We need to ensure that only the ruling class make decisions as they see fit, without having to deal with the opinions of pesky voters... *ugh*.  After all, the only job of a voter is to pay their taxes.  Via On Deadline.

And your point being? Even when the politicians know what the will of the people is, they tend to ignore it anyway.

Well that's true. But of course, how on Earth would you be able to talk constantly about what a failure Bush is in the eyes of the people, and how he is the worst president ever, if you couldn't poll to find out? Half the fodder for your blog would be gone!

But of course being the Libertarian that I am, I don't think it ought to be illegal to ask a person a question. You have every right to say "I don't want to answer your question."
