Thompson Announces His Candidacy for Vice President

The Thompson Twins take another step closer to reality...

Despite visiting every Iowa county and pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into his presidential quest, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson today dropped out of the race for the White House.

Thompson made the announcement one day after finishing a disappointing sixth in the Republican Iowa straw poll won by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

"I have no regrets about running," Thompson said in a statement issued by his campaign tonight. He thanked Iowans, his campaign volunteers and his financial contributors for their support.

He came in 6th place despite having the same last name as Fred.  You'd think that enough people would confuse them that he would have done better.  I wonder if Fred Thompson is worried that is last name doesn't carry more weight.

Why do you think he got as many votes as he did? ;)

Ron Paul didn't do much better. When does he drop out?

Why doesn't he drop out? Well, unlike Tommy Thompson, Ron Paul actually has a decent internet following creating buzz for him which has the possibility of increasing his chances, and getting him more media coverage as the campaign season grows longer.

Tommy was depending on winning Iowa get him a following so he could get more media coverage. He was already behind the 8 ball as it were.

Besides, Ron has more cash on hand.
