<< An Interesting Legal Question This All Seems So Familiar >>
Who Are You Rooting For Anyway?

Every time I hear weather reports about hurricanes, or read news stories about them, I always get the impression that they're rooting for the storms.  For instance, you have news like this:

Hurricane researcher William Gray lowered his 2007 forecast slightly Friday, calling for 15 named storms, with eight becoming hurricanes and four becoming intense.

On May 31, at the outset of hurricane season, Gray had called for 17 named storms and nine hurricanes, five of them intense.

"We've lowered our forecast from our May predictions because of slightly less favorable conditions in the tropical Atlantic," said Philip Klotzbach, a member of Gray's team at Colorado State University.

Shouldn't conditions that lead to fewer storms be called more favorable?  Call me crazy... but I see less property damage, injuries and deaths as a good and favorable thing.  I blame global warming for this trend myself.

Being from the deep South, I have to agree with you. Of course, Mr. Gray is up in the mountains and gets to watch hurricanes on the Weather Channel from the comfort of his air-conditioned living room. I, on the other hand, get to watch them from my front porch, with no electricity, as the trees and such go flying by. Less favorable my $%@!
