<< This Is Just Wrong It's Not About Taxes. It's About Choice! >>
A Serious Question

Which state should I move to if this bill passes in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin residents would receive universal health care coverage through a plan paid for by workers and their employers starting in 2009, under a proposal state Senate Democrats will include in their version of the state budget.
...
Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) said the plan should be rejected because it would more than double state taxes.

"This would be without question the largest tax increase in the history of the state," he said. "That's not an experiment we can afford."

Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau derided the plan for imposing a "staggering" tax increase that would force small companies out of business.

Normally I'd think about moving to California because of my family there... but that's out of the question since that state is even worse than Wisconsin.  As Fred points out, the state Senate has decided that such a huge policy change is so important, that only one day of debate and public comment is needed.  For that monumental reason alone, every single Senate Democrat deserves to be recalled at this very moment.  That is beyond arrogance.

So does anyone have any good thoughts?  Does anyone know what New Hampshire is like?

Actually that's why I mentioned New Hampshire. I probably should've linked to the Free State Project when I did.

I can recommend Tennessee. Just stay away from Memphis, unless you enjoy the Milwaukee type
problems. :)

There is no escape. Eventually all of the states will come up with the same sort of B.S., although you may get a reprieve of a few years. Even the Nevada legislature, which gets all its state taxes from gambling and mining, is talking continually about finally putting in a state income tax. The politicians just never have enough. They are like a black hole.

Philosophically, Texas would probably the be state I'd be happiest in.

However, I love this land too much to leave it.

Leave, we will. But there will not be anyone here to pay for your ass and the asses of your ilk. Just remember that.
