Some Interesting Poll Results

A coworker of mine emailed me the link to the National Taxpayer's Union Iowa Straw Poll results.  The results are quite interesting:

1. Fred Thompson (R-TN) - 25.7%
2. Ron Paul (R-TX) - 16.7%
3. Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) - 12.5%
4. Mitt Romney (R-MA) - 9.0%
5. John McCain (R-AZ) - 5.6%
...
12(t). Hillary Clinton (D-NY) - 1.4%
12(t). Barack Obama (D-IL) - 1.4%
12(t). Tommy Thompson (R-WI) - 1.4%

There are a couple of interesting numbers in there.  First, Ron Paul is sitting second... not bad for a libertarian nut job.  Ironically enough, he was also excluded from a debate sponsored by the National Taxpayer's Union!  The other interesting number is Tommy Thompson, who was unable to muster more votes than two Democrats in a Republican straw poll.  Not a good sign for a man who is pinning his hopes on Iowa.  At least he beat out all the write in candidates.
