There have been too many cases of pure government stupidity that have come on my radar for me to try to write up each one individually. So here is a roundup of some of the dumber things government has decided to do of late.
A doctor is serving a 30 year sentence as a drug trafficker because he prescribed pain medication to some people who he truly thought were in pain. At worst, he was duped by some good actors. His life is now ruined, and there are even more reasons for good pain specialists to fear the government, and refuse to adequately treat those in need.
A city in California is considering a ban on mobile food service trucks, supposedly for health and safety reasons, despite the fact that they currently need permits (which I presume leads to inspections) in order to operate. Guess who's pushing for the ban? That's right... restaurants who don't like competition.
A man in the UK is attempting to find out from the EU government how you go about getting into the business of not rearing pigs for money. Apparently it's very lucrative.
Oil companies are wondering whether it's worthwhile building oil refineries if ethanol is going to be a primary fuel source soon. The lack of refining capacity is the leading cause of price fluctuations and spikes in the market right now. So thanks to ethanol mandates, companies are likely to refuse to build more refineries, leading to a continuation in gasoline price instability.
