Is Michael McGee the Disease...

... or just a symptom?

Many on the right seem to think that if McGee goes to jail, that things will immediately start getting better.  They believe that somehow he is to blame for Milwaukee's problems.  Listening to the reactions the last few days to his arrest, I can say for certain that someone else just as bad will probably come up to replace him.  There are those in Milwaukee who need a Michael McGee, and where there is a need, there will always be someone to fill it.

That's the problem that needs to be solved.

Who are these "many on the right?" I'd like to know so I can rip on them.

Maybe I'm crazy Sean... but given the complete devoted and rapt attention that is being given by many, like Fred, or Patrick to this case, and how they hang on every detail... I believe that they really think that.

They of course are free to come here and prove me wrong. I hope they do, because if they did think that... well... we're in bigger trouble than I thought.

I don't get that impression from either Fred or Patrick. If they do think getting McGee/Jackson out of the way they're quite wrong. Sounds a bit like a reverse Obamamania. Like Obama's followers think he can practically walk on water and heal the American political divide they might think cutting out the McGee/Jackson cancer will solve the inner city's problems. Both views are deeply misguided.

I do not think Patrick is of the mind that putting McGhee (I like the misspelling)
away is going to change a whole lot.

As an outsider from Appleton I very much appreciate Patrick's coverage
and have been visiting his blog regularly. I have not been to Fred's blog
to see what his take is.

The dynamics of groups & their leaders is not as simple as a group
following the leader all the time, sometimes the group pushes the leader/

Yeah, fixing Milwaukee's inner city is not a game of chess where the
capture of the king signals victory but it is important for city, state, and
federal leaders to show such behavior is not going to be tolerated.

The question is who is going to replace McGhee?
