<< But What About the Uninsured? For All Those People Who Are Thinking It >>
I Wonder...

Will all those bloggers who called a California Senator that broke a cell phone while driving law hypocritical and a typical liberal say the same thing about George Bush for not wearing his seat belt during the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign?

Spokesman Tony Snow declined to answer that query Tuesday morning, after a reporter pointed out that Bush appeared to be sans seat belt when tooling around in his pickup truck last weekend. Bush was driving around his ranch in Texas, giving a tour to NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

Snow said "I didn't ask" and "I don't know" when asked whether Bush uses seat belts. Ditto for whether Bush wears a safety belts while traveling in a presidential motorcade.

Just curious about what ya'll aren't saying.

If he was on his ranch, there is no legal requirement for him to wear his seatbelt. If he was on the road, then he could have received a ticket.

That all depends, did Bush push a law that made it illegal?

That is what made it so delicious.

Nick irony rocks.

Kind of like John edwards getting paid $55,000 to do a speech on poverty.

But doesn't he? After all, there is not federal seat belt law... and yet the NHTSA (or whatever garbledygook of letters it is) sponsors the Click It or Ticket special enforcment period that exists right now. Those are federal dollars... under the Bush Administration, that could be used for a whole host of other things besides wasting them on stupid feel good programs.

So Fred, this "irony" thing that you speak of intrigues me. Would it be ironic if, hypothetically, you called a blog "Real Debate Wisconsin" and then banned commentors for having different opinions than you? Is that a good example of irony? Is that how you can sleep at night while having a blog with that name; you're just being ironic? If that's the case, you're not a hypocrite at all, are you?
