Cherry Trees in Bloom

They don't last long... and it only takes one rain storm to bring all those petals onto the ground in a carpet of red, pink and white, but while they're still on the tree, they're gorgeous.  I spent part of my afternoon yesterday experimenting with the macro mode on my new camera.  Here is the result:

Cherry Tree Blossoms

Nice pic and great bokah.

What kind of camera did you get? Also, what were the settings for this pic? Macro lens used?

It's a Nikon D40, and it's absolutely fantastic. No macro lens... I was just using the kit lens which is amazingly versatile. I'm looking at a couple more lenses that I might want to purchase though. You can see the all the EXIF data on the picture here for setting information.

Wow..at f/8 that looks like about f/2.0 or less. My congrats on a nice photo.

As an old film shooter, I gotta check out this new-fangled digital. I used to be a good photographer...then I had to get a job. ;)

Yeah, I was actually surprised at how well it turned out. The reason for the higher f stop is because I was actually further away from the blooms than I wanted to be and it was above me so I wasn't using a tripod. And also the tree was blowing a bit in the wind, which artificially added to the blurring effect.
