Profiting From Carnage

NBC got itself a windfall from the VT murderer, and is taking full advantage of it.  His face is now plastered everywhere, and his video is shown constantly.  This savage has now gotten the attention he so desperately wanted, and NBC is making millions off of it.  They're not the only ones.  I happened to turn on Fox News last night during the O'Reilly Factor (a masochistic ritual I perform from time to time) and during the commercials, Fox News was sure to remind you to stick around all day for the latest on the case, with special promo sections that they had created specifically for this horrible event.

Are you reporting news, or providing entertainment?!  This is not entertaining!

Michelle Malkin is talking about some of the backlash against NBC, but it's not just that network.  Everyone is scurrying around to play catch up now.  It's profiteering on the backs of the victims, and it's turning an evil piece of shit into a cult hero.  He got what he wanted.  Are you all happy now?  In a sick way, I'm reminded of scenes from "The Chase", specifically the scenes making fun of how the news coverage is done.

Update:  I'm watching The O'Reilly Factor again, and he is showing the video.  Fox News today announced that they would no longer show this video.  Fox News Lied.  Bill O'Reilly works for that network, and he has gone against network policy on this issue.  Fox News is in it for the ratings just like everyone else.  Don't kid yourself.  If Fox News doesn't sanction Bill O'Reilly, then they're full of shit.

The sickest thing about this was what I saw last night. I was watching Anderson Cooper on CNN interview a former FBI profiler. The profiler was talking about how the media should not continuously show the videos and images of the shooter that he sent to NBC because it glorifies him and promotes additional incidents (as there are usually clusters). The entire time he was talking to this point they had him in one window and next to him in another window they were showing a slide show of the videos and pictures of the shooter.
Hel-lo.
I got disgusted and turned it off.
What the fuck?
Sarah
