Neighborhood Falcon

In my neighborhood, I'd suspected there had been some kind of predatory bird flying around for some time.  I had caught sight of it swooping down occasionally, but was never quite sure what it was.  Then a couple weeks ago I happened to see it in a large honey locust tree out front, and it was definitely a falcon.  I took my camera out, but was unable to get any pictures worth posting.

Tonight was different.  There in the back on a tree stump sat a falcon having a nice chipmunk dinner.  Amazingly, it seemed to not care as I snuck up on it and snapped several pictures, which you can find in this Flickr set.  Here is one example:

Last summer in my backyard I saw a falcon stoop down and take
a pigeon in mid-air. Note that this was west of downtown in
the inner city.

I believe a falcon has nested in the UWM dorms...only a few blocks from my house. It's been seen several times in my backyard. My only concern is that the thing is awful big and I'm pretty sure it could fly off with Vito if it was hungry enough!
