Happy Easter everyone.
Today was spent with family... which is always nice. But I have to say... one depressing part is always talking with my aunt who works at the NICU at St. Joseph's. Apparently things were slowing down at they were possibly going to lay some people off. Believe it or not, this is a good thing, since that means there are fewer premature babies out there. Well... within the last couple of months, so many have come in that they're working mandatory overtime. There is nothing quite as depressing as hearing about 14 year old girls who give birth to twin premature babies.
Yeah. You read that right. 14.
Sigh.
Update: I mentioned this conversation to my friend who teaches in a Racine high school, and who used to teach at MPS. She brought up that MPS actually has a high school specifically for pregnant girls, called Lady Pitts. Think that's depressing? They recently opened up the curriculum for girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Double sigh.
