Today the federal appeals court in D.C. struck down the city's harsh gun control laws. This is a big deal, because the court soundly sided with the "individual rights" side of the law, as opposed to the collective rights view. This doesn't really setting a thing though, as it means that two district courts are in disagreement over this, and it will mostly get taken up by the Supreme Court. However, as surprising as it may sound, there hasn't been case law regarding the 2nd Amendment in some time, and so most of the arguments on either side have been academic... literally. In about a year, that won't be the case any more. It'll be interesting to see how things finally get decided.
Of course, no matter how the court sides, you know this won't settle a damn thing.
