Adventures in English Translation

American:  So where do your kids go to school?

Englishman:  I send them to a public school.

American:  Government funded education is awful, I'm sorry to hear that.

Englishman:  Public school isn't government funded.

American:  It isn't?

Scotsman:  Are you sure?

I don't have a problem with government funded education. It's government
administered education which is awful. That's the issue on which
I gave up on the Libertarian Party. Their opposition to vouchers is,
in the real world, a defense of the school board monopoly.

You make a very solid point triticale. I personally do believe that the importance of education in our society is so great, that we should fund education publicly. However, I think that ALL schools should be private, and you should be able to spend your voucher money on whatever school you want, and add your own money to the mix on top if you wish as well.
