Granted nobody commented on yesterday's post regarding Ron Paul, but I'm sure there are some on the right who probably have already dismissed him because of his stance against the Iraq War. But to be honest with you, in two years I don't think it will matter one bit. The reason is simple. We've already decided to make our last stand in Iraq right now. The current "surge" is it. It will either work or it won't. All the high level officials who have been pushing the "surge" have said that if we don't begin to see improvement and see the Iraq government take ownership, that we'll begin to pull out anyway.
So if things are going bad in 2008, then we will already be pulling out anyway, at least by the argument of today's administration. And if things are going good in Iraq (God willing), then I don't think anyone, including Ron Paul or even John Edwards, would be so stupid as to reverse course. The reality is, his stance on the war, which as been negative from the outset, can only help him. For everyone else, they'll have to deal with the baggage of the war... something Ron Paul won't be carrying.
