Overreaction Anyone?

When I heard the details of the "bomb scares" in Boston, my impression wasn't that the Cartoon Network was stupid in their advertising campaign, but rather that the people of Boston simply overreacted... especially since they'd all been there for weeks:

Turner said the devices have been in place for two to three weeks in 10 cities: Boston; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; Atlanta; Seattle; Portland, Ore.; Austin, Texas; San Francisco; and Philadelphia. As soon as the company realized the Boston problem, it said, law enforcement officials were told of their locations in all 10 cities.

Am I the only one who saw this as a bit of overkill?

From what I heard, the first one discovered, in a train station just underneath route 93 was not there for three weeks.

Might I remind you, too, that it's only overreacting if a bomb doesn't go off. This comment on our local blog aggregator prettymuch sums it up:
