More Tax Time Fun

Had another random interesting conversation with a coworker who mentioned how her raise last year actually cost her money.  Her raise was just enough to push her into the next tax bracket, so the percentage went up, and ended up costing her more money than the extra raise gave her.

What would you do in that situation?  Would you go back to your boss and ask for less money?

I'm pretty sure that when you move into the next tax bracket, you only pay the new percentage on the amount in that new tax bracket. She should be okay.

I ggot a raise long ago which pushed me into a new bracket, but it happened partway thru the year. My takehome for the week went up by about the amount my hourly gross did. My total for the year was still in the lower bracket so I wound up getting it all refunded.

I would go to my boss and ask for a transfer.
