<< Arrested For What? And Who's Going to Clean Up Next Time? >>
Not That We Have to Worry About This...

... because we have no snow to speak of, but Omaha has banned sledding in city parks.  Seriously:

A ban on sledding was announced Wednesday for two Omaha-area parks.

The city said all types of sledding activities on Cunningham and Zorinsky lake dam sites is banned, as well as all activities on frozen ponds and lagoons within city parks.

The ban is a result of a Nebraska Supreme Court ruling that found public entities, such as parks, are not protected under law.
...
Signs will go up soon to inform sledders of the ban. City leaders said park caretakers and Omaha police will patrol the parks to enforce it.

This reminds me of the demise of one of my favorite sledding spots when I was younger... Hansen's Hill.  It's a pretty steep hill off of Underwood Parkway on the golf course.  Of course, instead of doing something as unpopular as "banning sledding", either the city, or the county created a "prairie restoration area", and planted lots of pine trees right at the bottom of the hill.

I miss sledding. We used to go at Honey Creek Parkway - which is also where at least 3 kids at school had broken an arm or a leg with all the trees in the way. It rocked.
