It probably shouldn't surprise those of you who know me, but I have a hard time considering Christmas to be... well... Christmas, without a gift that involves being put together. When I was a kid, I would often times get a gift with that famous phrase, "Some assembly required" emblazoned on the box. I feel sorry for a lot of kids these days, especially if I happen to catch a morning news show where they have people suggesting that you should always put those gifts together for your kid before Christmas so they can play with it right away. Mine were never put together for me. Christmas day was always spent with me on the living room floor, with an instruction sheet and parts everywhere. To this day, I feel a bit disappointed if I don't have a Christmas day project to occupy me.
This year I was far from disappointed. Two of my sisters got together and shocked the hell out of me with a Sirius satellite radio for my car, along with a one year subscription. So now I have a project to occupy me for a bit as I figure out the best way to install the antenna, and mount everything. Of course, then my brother-in-law Shannon was sure to mention to me... "Don't forget to turn on Channel 198. That's a special present for you." That'll make for some interesting morning commutes.
