It was so funny, I forgot to laugh:
Gonzales said she told employees that supervisors support them, and they should continue working hard for San Bernardino County. She said she told deputies to be careful during the holiday season when in dangerous situations."After I said, 'Get home safe, get home alive,' I said, 'Shoot first, ask questions later. I will take care of the lawsuits,' " Gonzales said in a telephone interview Thursday. She added that she was joking when she said the comments, which were her last before she left the stage.
Of course, if any of those Sheriffs are on the local SWAT team, then that's just business as usual. Not a funny joke, and a pretty reckless thing to say. That sort of thing doesn't instill any confidence in the people who are being protected by those officers.
This was of course was said to members of the same Sheriff's Department that had an incident occur last year, where an unarmed Iraq War veteran was shot and killed.
