<< Are You an Urban Hipster? Talk About Impeccable and Convenient Timing >>
You Should Be Boycotting Fox News Too

I know a lot of people on the right side of the blogosphere got their panties all wet when they read about the Midwest hotel chain that banned CNN because the owner thought they supported terrorists:

The owner the Stoney Creek Inn in Rothschild said Wednesday that his decision to pull the cable news channel CNN from the inn's guest rooms was based solely on the TV network's airing of what he said is a terrorist propaganda tape.

James Thompson, president of the Des Moines, Iowa-based Stoney Creek Hospitality Corp., said the move was not meant as a political statement regarding coverage of the war in Iraq or as a protest of CNN in general. Rather, he said, it was his personal stance against the network's apparent willingness to support terrorists by broadcasting footage of U.S. soldiers being assassinated in Iraq.

And I respect that decision.  And I know a number of you have chosen to keep CNN out of your homes in favor of Fox News.  For my part, I've expressed my disappointment in Bill O'Reilly several different times.  Frankly, I just can't stand the guy.  But before you turn on the O'Reilly Factor, and listen to his talking points as if they're not totally full of shit, allow me to point two recent stories in the news.

First, it is being reported that Fox News has paid $2 million to terrorist organizations in order to free two of its kidnapped reporters:

Palestinian terror groups and security organizations in the Gaza Strip received $2 million from a U.S. source in exchange for the release of Fox News employees Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig, who were kidnapped here last summer, a senior leader of one of the groups suspected of the abductions told WND.

The terror leader, from the Gaza-based Popular Resistance Committees, said his organization's share of the money was used to purchase weapons, which he said would be utilized "to hit the Zionists."
...
A spokeswoman for Fox News Channel told WND she could not provide an official statement about whether Fox was aware of money paid to free its two employees.

A source at Fox told WND many parties were involved with the freedom of Centanni and Wiig, including the U.S. government, and that it was possible money was paid.

A State Department spokesman said his agency did not pay for the release of the Fox News employees.

Not only that, but it's also being reported that Fox News has agreed to interview OJ Simpson about his new revolting, stomach churning, sickening book called "If I Did It, Here's How It Happened".  His book shouldn't be published, and no self respecting news service should come within 100 feet of that man.

So answer this question for me.  How is Fox News any better than CNN?  Both links courtesy of The Agitator.

Update 11/20:  According to Fox News, both publication of the book, and the interview have been cancelled.  Good.
