This is the fifth in my continuing series on how I'm voting in the upcoming election. For those who don't live in Wauwatosa, this doesn't really matter to you. Wauwatosa is one of the communities that managed to get an Iraq War referendum added to this election cycle. I will be voting no on the referendum.
First of course comes the text:
The United States should now begin withdrawing troops from Iraq, and continue steady withdrawals until all our troops are home.
It's a really straight forward question, with a very straight forward answer. While I'm no longer sure what the appropriate course is in the Iraq War, I don't think a full pullout starting immediately is the right answer, nor do I think that it should be decided in this fashion. More importantly, putting it on a municipal referendum is childish, stupid, and doesn't do one bit of good. In fact, simply the effort to put it on the ballot is a waste of money. This is not something that gets decide on the municipal level, and doesn't belong on this ballot.
I'm surprised I even bothered to make a post out of this actually. Go figure.
