I'm Surprised It Took This Long

An elementary school in Massachusetts has banned tag:

Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.
...
Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban.
...
Elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash., also recently banned tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school outlawed all unsupervised contact sports.

Parents of the Attleboro Massachusetts children are now consulting with lawyers to sue the school district for encouraging childhood obesity by restricting recess exercise.  The principal offered to amend the rules to allow children to play tag, as long as they wore one of these suits.

And just remember.  The same people who created these rules for those kids are going to vote in the next election.  Scary huh?
