Yesterday there was the awful, horrendous massacre in a Pennsylvania Amish school:

Investigators on Tuesday were looking into the armed assault on an Amish schoolhouse that left five girls - and the milk-truck driver who ambushed them - dead in rural Pennsylvania, saying that the gunman was "angry at God."

Authorities say a heavily armed Charles Carl Roberts IV, 32, took hostages at a one-room schoolhouse and opened fire on several girls before taking his own life on Monday. Two more girls died from gunshot wounds Tuesday, raising the number of victims to five.

Why on Earth would you choose to kill all the girls execution style?  I'm a very curious person by nature, and to some degree I think it's important to understand what motivates these people in order to try to prevent it from happening in the future.  But then again... I would be frightened to my core to actually see how these men think.  If he was angry at God... I guess he'll find out how angry God can be back at him.

Then I saw this blurb on the JSOnline Day Watch this morning:

An 18-year-old man said he was scared and didn't know what to do after he raped a woman, so, he strangled her, tied an electrical cord around her neck and beat her, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Anthony Phillip Heard Jr. of Kenosha was charged yesterday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault, attempted armed robbery and burglary, all as a repeat offender.

He was scared and didn't know what to do... so he strangled her, then beat her?  That's what you do when you're scared?  As if doing that is the natural reaction any man would have after... what... accidentally raping a woman?  Are you out of your fucking mind?  You were scared after raping a woman... so you decided to kill her.  That's your excuse?

I honestly don't know what my point was... other than a need to express my profound shock and absolute horror at these recent events.  It honestly, truly, boggles my mind that evil like this exists.  And that's exactly what it is.  True and real evil.
