That's about the only conclusion I can come to based on this from the JSOnline Day Watch:
Plans by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to increase its offerings of organic foods could create a competitive threat to small organic farms, according to a briefing paper released today by a Wisconsin-based group.Wal-Mart already is buying milk and other organic products from large-scale dairies and other large food producers - creating what the Cornucopia Institute calls "corporate organics." The non-profit group, based in Cornucopia, in northern Wisconsin, is an advocate for what it calls "family-scale farms."
Damn that Wal-Mart for bringing healthy organic foods to poor people at lower prices! Don't you understand? We can't just have any old poor person able to eat an organic carrot and drink organic milk! How on Earth are we supposed to be able to tell the rich East Side yuppies from the common folk now?
