Will Zidane Be The Celebrity Spokesman?

If you thought Wisconsin's new law requiring child seats for children under 8 was bad... just wait til you read what Massachusetts wants to do.  They want to require children to wear helmet's when playing Soccer.  This isn't the first time they've tried either.  Last year they tried to ban headers in youth soccer.

And who's pushing for all of this?  Why none other than a company that makes those helmets.  No better way to gain a foothold in the market I say than making it illegal to not use your product.  You can find out more about this proposed law, which will likely be heading to our fair state soon here.  Thanks to The Agitator for pointing it out.

I coach pole-vaulting at the high school level here in Wisconsin. I vaulted for 3 years in high school, and 2 years in college, and never once did I wear a helmet. Now, they make kids wear helmets. Never mind the fact that there's a 20ft by 20ft by 4ft high LANDING MAT ( which, btw, has to have four feet of two inch padding AROUND the whole thing )... and there's GRASS ALL AROUND THAT AREA.

You CANNOT die from hitting your head, should you land on your head while polevaulting. You can however, die from breaking your neck - which wearing a helmet WON'T protect you from.

If you can't tell, I'm not in favor of rules like this ( making up rules for the sake of making up rules ) - and when it comes to helmets like this in soccer, polevaulting, or face cages for tee ball - it gives kids a false sense of security.

I shoulda went on a rant like that on my own blog. Sorry bout that. ;)
