<< I Feel So... So... Used Why Do People Refer to Data as Intelligence? >>
I'd Rather Eat at a Nice Restaurant

I've eluded to the fact that I don't like Ann Coulter several times... but I haven't actually explained my reasons for it.  Recently, Right Thinking Girl talked about her love for Ann while quoting several passages from her latest book Goddless:

I am a big fan of Ann Coulter; her books are intellectual feasts.  Her research is flawless.  The writes brilliantly in clear, concise, and well thought out paragraphs.  Of course her structure isn’t what makes me such a fan - but does drive home the fact that unlike Michael Moore and propogandists on the Left, Ann Coulter actually knows what she is talking about.

When I think about Ann Coulter, I'm reminded of an old episode of The Cosby Show (which is a show that is truly missed).  The one I'm thinking of is when Vanessa comes home with a very nice guy, whom the family discovers is her fiance, and also happens to be a janitor.  Of course Vanessa goes on and on about how poorly her parents are treating him, and how it must be because of his profession... when in reality it was the fact that the engagement had been hidden for so long.  Finally, in one of the greatest fatherly dialogs ever, Bill explains to the young man why they feel the way they do.  I wish I could find the exact dialog, but it went something like this:

Cosby: Do you like steak?
Fiance: Yeah, I love steak.
Cosby: A T-Bone.  Juicy... nicely marbled.
Fiance: Absolutely.
Cosby: You like mushrooms?
Fiance: Oh yes.
Cosby: You've got mushrooms... and onions too.  How about a baked potato?
Fiance: Yes sir.
Cosby: With sour cream?  Lot's of fixings.  Can you taste it son?
Fiance: Yes sir.
Cosby: Now let's say I come out of the kitchen with your perfectly cooked steak, and all the trimmings on a garbage can lid.  Not so appetizing is it now?  Son, that's how you were brought into this house.  On a garbage can lid.

It was pure genius.  And that is how Ann Coulter presents her information every day... on a garbage can lid.  Her books by all accounts are well researched, with very good information.  She has the perfectly cooked T-Bone steak and trimmings of conservative thought.  And yet with every bitter word, angry shout, and off the deep end comment she makes, she puts it on the lid of a garbage can for everyone.  She doesn't even bother to hose it off for you... she just leaves yesterday's rotted food on there to go with your steak.

I personally don't understand why people continue to go to a restaurant that serves food like that.  I'd much prefer someplace that serves my steak on a clean plate, with cloth napkins and nice silverware.  I'd rather eat someplace where I can truly enjoy my meal... instead of a place where I have to hold my nose while I choke down something that should taste good.

And that is why I don't like Ann Coulter.

I don't know anything about Ann Coulter, but this is still a nice post.
