Run Into The Wind

I went for a 6 1/2 mile run down by the lake.  The wind right next to the lake on Lincoln Memorial Drive was blowing from north to south.  I could have done my circuit so I was running mostly into the wind, or mostly with the wind at my back.  Here are five reasons to run into the wind:

  1. Having the wind blowing on your face as you run makes you feel like you're hauling ass even if you're not.
  2. When you make the turn out of the wind to finish up your run, you get an extra burst of energy.
  3. It keeps you from looking like a sponge.
  4. When you tell people you did your first 10 K run of the year at a 8'41" pace, you can say most of it was in the wind.  It sounds more impressive.
  5. Running in the wind makes Motha Nature yo bitch holmes!

The lake is THE only place to run! Especially on hot days, that wind makes it bearable.
