Carnival of the Badger - Blog Warming Edition

Welcome to the Who Knows What Number We're On Edition of the Carnival of the Badger, here at my new home on the Internet. Of course, my other blog, The Coding Monkey, also has found a new home if you enjoy reading about geekier things. This edition is actually spanning two weeks, as I'm including submissions from last week when the Carnival was on hiatus. So with that little bit of introduction, onto the posts!

We'll start out with Grumps from The Happy Circumstance, who brought a nice cake with him. He sounds an awful lot like Jim Gaffigan in this post... I love Jim's routine on cake when he describes it as being able to bring people together...

Worker 1: It's Jim's birthday today.
Worker 2: I hate Jim!
Worker 1: There's cake in the conference room.
Worker 2: Well, maybe I'll just stop by and say hello.

Next up we have Patrick from Badger Blogger who wants to provide an opening prayer, like they tried to do at a Kentucky High School. He's got all the details.

Speaking of the G-Word... Truly from Sex and the Mil-town, and next week's host, is providing party etiquette to guys about when to mention you have a girlfriend. Of course, I've heard women complain about the opposite too. If a guy mentions he has a girlfriend early on, then suddenly "he's assuming an awful lot", and "how conceded is he?" Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Marcus over at Blogger Beer is sharing the latest scam email... but instead of Nigerians, it's trying to help out a certain Congressman from Louisiana. He'd also like to give a warm thank you to liberals in Wisconsin. Shocking... I know.

Steve from No Runny Eggs brought two posts to my blog warming. First, he's doing a bit of math regarding reformulated gas prices in Wisconsin. And more recently, he's going after Doyle for rewriting the tax freeze to exempt bodies like MATC... who are now asking to hike taxes.

Steve from Uppity Wisconsin is urging a No Vote on the Gay Marriage Amendment in November, and he's got reasons by the boat load. Of course I've come out against it as well, most recently here.

Tracy Coenen from The FRAUDfiles Blog has some important information about recovering from identity theft after her information was compromised by the AICPA... I'll let you go read her post to find out what that stands for. I love some alphabet soup myself... but then again... in my profession I'm surrounded by TLAs. More recently, she's blogged on a story about a lawyer who slept through a deposition, and was able to get the malpractice suit thrown out. At least now I know the name of one lawyer never to hire.

Jenna from Right Off the Shore is warning the NEA and WEA about the dangers of trying to get teachers involved in politics more than they are already. And don't miss her Doyle Caption Contest... she found a great one.

Kathy from Stepping Right Up has her wrapup posted on the Wisconsin Republican Party Convention for those who missed out. Since I'm not that kind of party person, I'll have to just read about it.

And last, but not least is Bill from the Xoff Files, who seems to think that the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce is partially to blame for the bad business climate in Wisconsin, because they complain too much about it. I know, I'm trying to wrap my brain around that one too.

And that will do it for this weeks Carnival of the Badger. I'd like to thank everybody for stopping by my new home. Next week Sex in the Mil-town will take the reigns for what promises to be an exciting edition. If you'd like to host one, please let me know!

Actually Nick,

There is a Nigerian connection in the William Jefferson (D-Louisiana) case. I was reading the guy has some connections to the VP of Nigeria.

Also, 'ow 'bout a link?
