<< It's a Secret Ballot What's His Plan? >>
Real ID and Voter ID
This paragraph from a story about the Real ID bill got me to thinking about Voter ID in Wisconsin (H/T Slashdot):

Starting three years from now, if you live or work in the United States, you'll need a federally approved ID card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service. Practically speaking, your driver's license likely will have to be reissued to meet federal standards.

Gov. Doyle's biggest excuse for not wanting Real ID was that it would disenfranchise older voters who often times don't have ID's. Sounds like in 3 years this won't be a problem then, since they'll have to have one any way to collect their Social Security. Same for the homeless since you have to have an ID in order to collect a lot of benefits. If you're still in office in 3 years Doyle... what will be your excuse then?

Please note this is mostly a sarcastic post about the Voter ID problem since I know that people who vote via absentee ballot would not require an ID (which means about 95% of the elderly Doyle claims would have a problem). Also please understand that I still have real significant problems with Real ID. See here and here.
