You Know You're a Geek When...
As an homage to Jeff Foxworthy... I present to you "You Know You're a Geek When". Today's entry comes from the Ananova News Outlet:

A father in central China has been refused permission to name his son '@'.

The dad wanted to name his son after keyboard character that appears in every email address, arguing it was now in common usage.

But officials in Zhengzhou, Henan province, refused to register the name on a legal technicality, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Under Chinese law, all names must be capable of being translated into Mandarin.

On a more serious note... this father would be ruining his child's future. I'm not talking about the constant beatings he would probably (probably... hell... would) receive in school. What about when he gets out into the workplace? How would the IT department give him an email address? @@company.com? at@company.com? If you're not going to think about your child, at least think about the IT department.
