I was parusing the GWB Official Site and happened upon this Chat Transcript with Barbara and Jenna Bush that took place last Friday. It's pretty much filled with inconsequental stuff that leads me to believe that the questions were pre-screened for their consumption. And obviously, since it was on the Bush Campaign site, the people who were most likely to be there would be supporters anyway.

But after seeing it, I couldn't help but be reminded of this from VodkaPundit about a Washington Post Chat after a pretty innocent Vogue interview.

Since the Bush Twins let themselves be featured for that a puff piece in Vogue that was reviewed in today's Style section, will the press allow themselves to actually report on the girls' doings and missteps now? I have heard persistent rumors about their drug use and their mistreatment of their Secret Service details, but little of that makes it into either the tabloid or the mainstream press.

So is this the start of a fresh new involvement from the Bush Twins? And if so, are they prepared to defend themselves? Because if not, things like this aren't too smart.



Granted the sort of chat on the campaign website they did isn't very in depth, and is mostly just "Supporting Dad", but I fear it won't take too much for the media to decide that they are open season.
